HOT ICE CREAM: AN OXYMORON RESOLVED BY THE ROCA BROTHERS

18.9月.2013
The Roca brothers' restaurant Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain has taken out a well-deserved first place on the list of the "World's 50 Best Restaurants", published by the prestigious Restaurant magazine. This is recognition of a career full of ceaseless work of the highest quality. In April 2012, Jordi Roca, the youngest of the three brothers, launched Rocambolesc, a sweet and inspiring proposition that seeks to reinvent the traditional ice cream parlour. Now they are showing us the machine they use to make their hot ice creams at Rocambolesc. Designed by Andreu Carulla, it's been dubbed the Oxymoron Maker. It’s simple to operate and involves putting an ice cream-filled brioche bun into the hot machine, which toasts and seals the bread. The bun keeps the ice cream inside intact and the results could not be more appealing. It even imprints the Roca brothers' distinctive ‘R’ on the top of the bun. Do you want to see how it's done?
